How your Bedtime Affects Your Mental Health: The Draining Hours

Meet Naomi. Naomi, is a second year Biomed honors major. She is a very brilliant outgoing girl. She loves helping out her mama and papa cook and manages to keep her home nice and tidy. She does it out of all the love they shower her. She also enjoys going out. On weekends, she would go out with her friends to eat out at fancy restaurants whenever her budget permitted. Sometimes, she'd hit the Rebel on Saturdays with her friends and dance her way through the night. She knew life was short, and made sure to enjoy herself as much as she could. The one thing that gave her the utmost energy was TikTok. Just like other teens her age, she was a huge addict of the app. From time to time, she would re - create TikTok challenges with her BFF, Mariana.  After all, Naomi was one spectacular woman indeed!  Though she had one weakness that would shut her out completely. That was to be blamed on her procrastination. She always had the tendency to leave her assignments till last minute.  ~ ~ ~ One

Powerful Influences: International Women's Day

Image
International Women's Day, marked annually on March 08, is a day dedicated to honoring all women around the world for what they do, and what they strive to accomplish day in and day out. This day is also observed as a day to celebrate the social, political, economic, and cultural contributions of women, a day used to raise the importance of women's equality, and a day used to advocate accelerating gender parity around the world.  Once upon a time, the gender divisions established by society had women confined to their homes, while men were the only people able to leave their homes to work. Today, women across the globe thrive to stand equal to their male counterparts by stepping out of their homes, establishing careers of their own, and becoming successful. These achievements are to celebrated year round, not just once a year.  On behalf of International Women's Day, I've chosen to focus on eight women who have contributed significantly to the world in which we live in.

Pondering Upon the Bliss of Existence

It’s insane to hear my immigrant parents tell me this over and over again: that we live in a peaceful, democratic society, with many privileges at hand, and that our only goal is to make them proud by becoming really successful. The trauma that they’ve been through is legit, it’s lively, it has never vanished. It’s what makes them speak like such – after all, they'd obviously want nothing other than a better life for their children. But the trauma we go through is never spoken about. Why? Expectations. Obligations. Respect. We are often led by hand to fulfill the expectations of others, obey the elderly, and to always show respect. This puts us like myself at a disadvantage. I’m sure you’d be able to relate when I ask you to think about the following: When you work so hard to please others around you and make them proud, do you fail to look after yourself and most importantly, your happiness? When you work so hard to please others around you and make them proud,
