Powerful Influences: Black History Month

With February being Black History Month, I've decided to reflect upon 7 different quotes by 7 different prominent figures to acknowledge the history of the Black community. I hope you all enjoy reading my reflections! Also, don't forget to follow, subscribe, and let your friends know about my blog!

1. Martin Luther King Jr.

At the end of the day, light will always prevail darkness.

At the end of the day, love will always defeat hate.

2. Rosa Parks

It makes more sense to fear doing the wrong thing, than doing things right.

Whether those around you fail to applause for you when you do the right thing, do it anyway, and surprise them with an electrical shock.

3. Jackie Robinson

When they say treat others the way you want to be treated, why don't you first learn to value yourself by defining your self - worth?

Self - respect is key in recognizing your value. When you learn to value yourself, you automatically learn to value everything around you. The amount of self - respect you carry for yourself will eventually determine how others are willing to treat you.

4. Maya Angelou

Stop living life to fulfill the expectations of what others want you to be. It's better to be yourself and do the things you love to do. Life is short, so never degrade your potential to satisfy anyone but yourself. Do that by being simply you.

5. Harriet Tubman

Dream big, envision success!

To become successful, make sure to dream, and dream big! Dreams are the ultimate tools that push us to aim high in life. To simply have hope is a kind of motivation that pushes us to get things done. We establish a sense of purpose in our lives by having this kind of hope. So dream big, and pursue your hopes. After all, life is short, so don't hesitate to persist in doing the things that make you proud.

6. Kobe Bryant

I strive to inspire all of you by promoting positivity. I am no expert indeed, but I do it anyway. You want to hear why? It's because it's my passion. You see, when you let the light spark inside of you, you begin to see that the potential to getting started in something you're passionate about lies nowhere but right inside you. So learn to wake up to new possibilities. And attempt them today, because tomorrow is never promised to anyone.

7. Michelle Obama

When you persist in your passion, you'll never fail to fall in love with what you seek to accomplish in your life. So make sure to commit to the things you love to do, because at the end of the day, that's where true happiness blooms from.
